Scoil Naomh Iosaf, Riverstown is a co-educational school situated in Glanmire, Cork. We serve a growing population and cater for boys and girls from infants to sixth class. We are a school with a Catholic ethos and welcome children of all faiths and backgrounds.
We are well resourced with ample playing areas, basketball courts and a school hall. We have a School Garden and polytunnel, a 4G All Weather Pitch and a newly installed playground for our junior and Autism classes.
All our classrooms have the latest Helgi touch screens which enhance the learning experience and outcomes of our pupils.
In recent years, we have invested in a comprehensive range of science equipment, musical instruments and hands-on maths materials as well as updating our school and classroom libraries. STEAM equipment and resources have also been added in recent years.
We run many in-class interventions throughout the year. Jolly Phonics, Ready Set Go Maths, Lift Off to Literacy, Building Bridges to Understanding and Brain Calm. The infant school engages with Aistear. It is an early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to 6 years in Ireland. The infants absolutely love this as a start to their day in school.
Say ‘Yes’ To Languages is in its third year now in our school. Fifth classes have engaged with Italian and Spanish over the last two years and will learn French this year. We are ever engaged with Curriculum change and developments.
We enter the City Sports every year, we represent the school in Sciath na Scol Gaelic games competitions and pupils go to the Mayfield Sports Centre to learn and develop their swimming skills. Our very own Sports/Fun Day is always a last term event and a day to remember.
